One rank, one pension for ex servicemen Soldiers, JCOs( PBOR of Army Navy and Air Force) pension upped

One Rank One Pension Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force below officer ranks(PBOR) , Budget 2009 Government of India Decision

Good news for Ex Servicemen in this budget. Government of India Monday has decided to met the “one-rank-one-pension” (OROP) demand of the armed forces, announcing enhanced pensions for soldiers and junior commissioned officers (JCOs) that will entail additional expenditure of Rs.2,100 crores per year. “The decision will benefit more than 12 lakh jawans (soldiers) and JCOs and equivalent rank of Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. One more best news for defense personal as Certain benefits being extended to war wounded and other disabled pensioners are also being liberalized . Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said while presenting the budget for 2009-10 in the Lok Sabha that it is long out standing demand of our defense personnel. The minister said the committee headed by the cabinet secretary on OROP had submitted its report and the recommendations of the committee had been accepted by Govt.

On the basis of this decision of pre-1.1.2006 defence pensioners and pre-10.10.1997 pensioners are substantially benefited. Both these decisions will be implemented from 1st July 2009, resulting in enhanced pension for more than 12 lakh Ex service men (personnel below officer rank of Army, Navy and Air force.

The demand of The Indian Ex-Servicemen’s Movement (IESM) “irrespective of the date on which a soldier retires, he or she should get the same pension” after these decision of the Government of India are met.

Now the army sepoy who retired before 1996 gets a monthly pension of Rs.3,670 will get the pension equivalent to a sepoy who retired after January 2006.

PBOR, particularly of the three ranks of sepoy, naik and havildar, ( and equivalent of Navy and Air Force ) will be significantly benefited by this decision of the Government..

  9. Revised Pension as per 6 CPC PBOR

Aspects of Revised Pension Bebow officers ranks
Indian Army, Indian Air force, Indian Navy
Minimum pension Rs 4,060, up from earlier Rs 2,813 in hand (revised pension to be effective from Jan 1, '06).
Maximum pension Rs 52,200, up from Rs 33,075.
Maximum gratuity up to Rs 10 lakh (depending on years of service and last salary drawn).
Enhanced family pension, for employees dying in service, to be full pension for 10 years.
Employees eligible for full pension if service is for 20 years.
Incremental additional pension for those 80 years and above. People over 100 to get double pension.
An important clause in 6th PC is Full Pension after 20 years. In all earlier PCs such liberalisation was applied to existing pensioners - like 30/80 to 33/80,then 33/80 to 33/66 etc. Will the 20 years -full pension rule be applicable to existing pre 1-1-06 pensioners also as in the past. This will benefit those who did not have 33 years at the time of their retirement.
Revised Pension as on 01.01.06 will be the sum of 1.86 times of basic pension as on 01.01.06 and 40% of basic pension as fitments benefit. DA as on 01.01.06 will be 0% and expected DA as on 01.07.06, 01.01.07, 01.07.07, 01.01.08, and 01.07.08 are 2%, 6%, 9%, 12% and 16% respectively.
